New Forest Pony Drifts – October 2025
The drifts this month are:
Wednesday 1st October at Fritham/Turfhill
Telegraph Hill & Turf Hill car parks will be closed for the duration of the drift.
Friday 3rd October at Wootton
Brownhills, Wootton Bridge & Broadley car parks will all be closed for the duration of the drift.
Sunday 5th October at Ober
Ober Corner car park and the cycle routes from Ober Corner to Black Knoll & Hursthill will be closed for the duration of the drift.
Tuesday 7th October at Longslade
Longslade Heath, Horseshoe Bottom, Longslade Bottom, Longslade View, Yew Tree Bottom, Wootton Bridge & Setthorns car parks will all be closed for the duration of the drift.
Friday 10th October at Ashurst
Shatterford car park will be closed for the duration of the drift.
Sunday 12th October at Balmer Lawn
Tilery Road, Clayhill Heath & Standing Hat car parks and the cycle route from Ladycross to the railway line & the Hollands Wood section will be closed for the duration of the drift.
Tuesday 14th October at Lyndhurst Racecourse
Boltons Bench & Parc Pale car parks will all be closed for the duration of the drift.
Friday 17th October at Stoney Cross
Stoney Cross, Ocknell Pond and Janesmoor car parks will be closed for the duration of the drift.
Sunday 19th October at Furzey Lodge
Beaulieu Heath, Ranswood, Ivy Wood, Crockford, Stockley & Norleywood car parks and the cycle routes from Ranswood to Hawkhill and Beaulieu Aerodrome will be closed for the duration of the drift.
Tuesday 21st October at Pondhead
Boltons Bench & Parc Pale car parks will all be closed for the duration of the drift.
Friday 24th October at Picket Post
Linford Bottom car park and the cycle route along the A31 will be closed for the duration of the drift.
Sunday 26th October at Withybeds
Bratley View, Andrews Mare & Canada Cross car parks will be closed for the duration of the drift.
For their own safety, members of the public are urged to avoid the area of the drift on the planned dates. Please look out for the warning signs, respect the car park closures and do not verge park or block access barriers.
HEALTH & SAFETY – The Verderers take reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring.
Only bona-fide practicing commoners and persons invited by the Verderers/Agisters may ride or assist on drifts. All riders are strongly recommended to wear protective headgear, e.g. hard hat and have their own third party liability insurance. The Verderers cannot be held liable for any injury or damage to persons or property and all persons attending drifts do so at their own risk.
The use of quad bikes is strictly forbidden.
